What an experience, what an adventure, what a success!!

Every day, a young person with high or complex care needs is placed in an aged care facility somewhere in Australia because the accommodation and support they need does not exist. Some of these individuals are as young as 10 years of age.

This is why Youngcare has been formed, to provide a dignified and relevant lifestyle for young people with high care needs. A place of their choosing, a place to call home.

For the small team who initiated the Youngcare Walk, it has been an absolute honour and privilege.

The story is quite simple....three ordinary blokes (very ordinary in fact) walking from Canberra to Sydney to raise awareness and funds for Youngcare.

However, the amazing result is the collective input & support of so many.

Without the support of family, friends, business and Government, the walk and the Gala dinner just would not have happened and would not have been the tremendous success it was.

Without the support of family, friends, business and Government the dream of opening a Youngcare apartment here in Sydney will not happen.

This is the start, not the end.

Let's not forget that only weeks ago not many people in NSW knew about this issue or even knew about Youngcare. Now we have raised $155,000 and more than 6.6 million people across the country now know about the issue and know about Youngcare...

Although the future of the Youngcare Walk concept is uncertain, what is certain is huge steps have been made towards the vision of dignified & appropriate accommodation for young people in NSW with high care needs. Our vision will be a reality in the near future!!
